The TYLA trust is a non-profit organisation that has been running successfully in a few communities for the last nine years. It has a goal of rolling out nationwide. The trust is a long term, early intervention programme supported by government, police, business, community and schools. They reach young kids at risk of going of the rails and stay with them on the complete journey - right through school and into the workforce. They provide a holistic wrap around programme with a multi agency approach so that the kids can realise their potential and achieve their own goals.
“When I was a little kid in primary school I would help kids reconcile with their friends, then when I
got to College I wanted to be a lawyer so I could put all the bad people away. I understand now that my dream has always been to help and make a difference in the world I live in. Writing this book and the TYLA trust are a starting point for that dream. All the profits from sales in NZ will go to TYLA. It is also a charity that Kevin Roberts is a trustee of - this was the icing on the cake - as it is my way of supporting him.”
